Jonne en Henk

Jonodesign is an initiative started by Jonne and Henk Seijdel. After successfully completing his degree at the Royal Academy or Art in The Hague, Jonne decided to make the world a little bit more beautiful together with his father. Henk’s roots are in education, but he quickly became a manager in the book and magazine world. In 2012 Jonne and Henk started the “Jonodesign” project together. The foundation of their collaboration is the markedly high number of areas of interest the two men have in common. But it is from their mutual differences that they derive their strength. What’s more, there is one important ambition both share: making art more accessible. Jono is their alter ego.

Jonodesign works together with Irina Markovskaya, Alesia Filipava, Itie Langeland, Tatak Waskitho, Hind Suliman, Devin McGrath, Attila Szamosi, Lars Wunderlich, John Rawsterne, Tatiana Korchemkina, Leonardo Cortes, Jelien Veenstra, Bård Sandemose, Vasyl Svinchyk, Robert Paul Laschon and Lisa Fisher.

The idea behind Jono™ and Jonodesign™

Jono is a lover. Of beautiful things. Jono is also frugal with his things, but he does want to use them. And therein lies the dilemma. He especially does not like part with his electronic equipment that has touchscreens. No, he prefers to tinker with it all day long. But even clean hands leave greasy marks on a nice touchscreen. Every time he turns off his iPad screen he is confronted with dust, greasy smudges and other grime which becomes painfully evident. His iPad’s manual says that the device has a protective, grease-resistant coating on the screen. This coating has to remain on the device, which is why no liquids or sprays may be used on it. But you can't get the screen nice and clean using just a lint-free cloth. So Jono sees a challenge and goes in search of the ideal cleaning cloth. After a long search he finds a cloth that is perfect for safely cleaning his screen. But Jono likes beautiful things and this cloth is not beautiful. Actually, it’s plain ugly and boring. What Jono is looking for doesn’t exist! Hence, Jono decides to create it himself. The perfect yet unassuming cleaning cloth is the foundation. He designs new color combinations and options. He creates and makes graphic designs. He also approaches artists from all over the world to give him ideas and help him design his pieces. And with a great deal of success. Ultimately he combines the most fantastic designs and color combinations. And slowly but surely Jono puts together a splendid collection. Go to the collection

Platform for artists.

Jono loves art. And he wishes to share his passion. He likes art in museums and galleries but he finds the barrier between the “regular” world and the art world too high and the art too elitist. That’s why Jono wants to offer artists a platform to present their art in everyday life. See all the artists
